If you have a lot of acne and there are now scars on your face, you may feel bad about your appearance. Fortunately, you have options to make these scars go away. Keep reading for two of these options so you can feel better about yourself.

Microneedling

One option you have is microneedling to help make the acne scars go away. With microneedling, small needles are used to puncture the scar. After this, you will have small wounds in this area. Your body then recognizes these wounds and starts the healing process by producing collagen in the scar area. This smooths out the scars, making them go away. Microneedling is also used to treat fine lines and/or wrinkles. If you have this problem, ask the doctor if they can treat these areas also while you are in their office.

The area may become inflamed or red after the microneedling treatment, but this will go away after a few hours. You may experience some bruising as well. In some cases, you will have no side effects at all. If you do, the doctor can tell you how long to expect these to last.

There are derma-rollers that you can purchase over the counter. These may not work as well, and you can damage your skin using them. Instead, go to a dermatologist or other professional to have this treatment done. The scars may come back over time. If so, you can have the treatment done again.

Fillers

Another option you have is using fillers for the acne scars. Fillers work by filling in the scar so it plumps up. This makes the scar go away completely or become much less noticeable. Fillers are injected into the area using small needles. How many injections you need will depend on how deep the scars are and how many acne scars you have.

There are different types of fillers the doctor can use. What they choose will depend on the type of acne scar you have, such as how large or deep it is. You may have to have more than one session if you have a lot of scars on your face.

Fillers are not a permanent solution, and the scars will return. This may be a few months or a few years depending on how large and deep the scars were. The doctor can give you more information about this. You can get the treatment done again after this happens.
